In this case, let’s take me and Teacher Mark as an example. We’ve been working together for quite some time without any conflicts, and we’re also good friends in private. Our interactions are fun and relaxed. Her sun sign is Gemini, which isn’t inherently very compatible with my sun sign. However, her Mercury and Venus are both in Taurus, meaning she has two planets that harmonize well with my stellium in Taurus. The degrees of these planets also form a conjunction. Additionally, my Venus is in Gemini, which creates a conjunction with her sun in Gemini. That’s why we get along so well.
Do you feel that you get along better with people of the same element as your zodiac sign?
I’m a Taurus myself, and throughout various stages of my life, the majority of my closest friends have also been Earth signs. So even before I became an astrologer, I had a rough idea: I tend to click better with Earth signs. When making friends, if I knew someone was an Earth sign, they naturally earned extra points in my book.
Later, when I got into astrology and started studying synastry, I realized that this initial impression of mine actually has a basis in astrology:
If someone’s Sun sign is an Earth sign, then without considering planetary degrees, purely from a zodiac perspective, their sign would form a harmonious sextile or trine aspect with my Sun sign. Taking planetary degrees into account, their Sun is also more likely than others to form a harmonious conjunction, sextile, or trine aspect with my Sun.
When there is a harmonious aspect between both Sun signs, it simply means that the two individuals share similar values, ways of handling things, and goals. The selves we present to the world have a certain degree of similarity.
Naturally, this leads to a greater sense of identification and closeness with each other—what is often referred to as being “like-minded.”
Additionally, apart from my Sun, I also have other celestial bodies placed in Taurus, such as Mercury and the Moon. So, when someone’s Sun forms a harmonious aspect with mine, there’s also a relatively higher probability that their Sun will form harmonious aspects with my Mercury and Moon. In synastry, besides the Sun-Sun aspect, harmonious aspects between Sun-Moon and Sun-Mercury can also greatly benefit relationship dynamics and maintenance, as they enhance mutual understanding and emotional reliance.
Therefore, for someone like me with multiple planets clustered in the same sign, there’s a higher chance of getting along well with people who share the same element. Because as long as there’s harmony, many planets will naturally harmonize with theirs. Even if the other person’s Sun isn’t in an earth sign, as long as they have personal planets in earth signs—such as Mercury or Moon in earth signs—we’ll still likely get along well.
